That post about style development was some incredible advice. As someone who's really just starting out, I also learned that you have to draw from life FIRST instead of trying to copy your favorite artists. Also, I've been going through a major "art slump" recently, and I've been beating myself up; but really, what you've written in the 15th paragraph was exactly what I was doing. Anyhow, I just wanted to thank you for telling all of us budding artists what we truly needed to hear: DRAW.
It means the world to me that my post could help anyone at all, I’m actually quite floored by the response to it. A good chunk of it is stuff I wish I had been told while attending art school. I ended up learning a good bit of it on my own, during my career. If it’s the sort of info I can pass onto people earlier in their artistic pursuits, I am extremely thrilled to do so. :)
