Just a sampling of the conversations Whitney and I have in the car.  I hope she likes my rendition of her shining grandchild.  XD

Progress on one of the lip balm labels!  Almost done here, but it’s still being fiddled with.  This will be for Fairy Kiss Cherry.  :D

This started out as a 30 second gesture doodle.  I then grabbed a handful of textures off Mayang and just… fiddled with everything until it looked ok.  It was a super fun approach, though maybe not the most reliable haha.

I’m trying to get familiar with the Elysion Age characters in a flat style.  I’ve been very happy with everything else I’ve done in this way, so I’ll be tackling chapter six with this method.
Speaking of which, chapter six has been entirely thumbed out.  I’ve taken a small break from the comic to work on things for the shop.  New t-shirts have been screenprinted and will be in stock soon.  I’ve also got a small bath and body line in the works, lip balms and lotions to start with.  We’ll be holding a clearance sale soon to try and move the stuff we’ll be discontinuing.  More on that later.
Once I finish with all that, I’ll be diving right into getting those chapter six pages done!

Drawn: Maurice Sendak on his life and work -

Goodbye, Maurice.  :(

drawnblog:

I posted a YouTube video earlier today of Tell Them Anything You Want, a 40-minute documentary on Maurice Sendak who died earlier today. The video has been taken down, but not before I managed to transcribe the author and illustrator’s parting thoughts on his work and life:

I did some…

Goats!  I got my hands on a pentel brushpen with grey ink and I wanted to try it out.

This is VERY good to know.  My Intuos 2 is still going strong, but I must admit I dread the day it finally decides to kick the bucket.
My husband recently nabbed an Intuos 4 and there have been all sorts of stupid fiddly problems with it.  He’s left handed, and the USB port on that side is CRAZY loose.  It eventually popped right off, it hadn’t been soldered in well at all.
He was able to send it in to have it fixed, but for what we paid they could have just made it solid in the first place.  Also, the surface has a hell of a tooth.  I appreciate that they’re trying to make it feel more like paper, but he shouldn’t be burning through nibs as quickly as he is.
I’m really glad to see that there’s a Wacom alternative.  I’m not thrilled about the battery powered stylus, but with how much cheaper the price point is I can get over it.

Ray Frenden reviews the too-cheap-to-be-true Monoprice graphics tablets. How do they stack up to industry standard Wacoms?

After spending a week with the 6.25“x10” Monoprice, my Yiynova and Cintiq remain unplugged and I gave my Intuos away to a friend. The Monoprice tracks subtle pressure variances and small movements with less lag and more crisp fidelity than any of the others. It is, put crudely, fucking awesome, in both OSX Lion and Windows 7 x64.
